Era o ápice da revista Metal Hurlant, e o nome Iron Maiden atraiu a atenção do público em meio a um emaranhado de bandas, pois remontava a um instrumento de tortura em que o prisioneiro era forçado a usar uma máscara de ferro. Por outro lado, era uma referência à austera Primeira Ministra britânica, Margareth Tatcher, nos anos 70. O tema das canções, por conseguinte, era a História inglesa. Resultado: 21 álbuns e sucesso que chegou aos nossos dias.
Steve Harris tried many models till he found a way to get to the public’s minds. Enough talent, but no name. It was the time the comic book Metal Hurlant was really burning, and the name Iron Maiden caught people’s attention among a congestion of new bands, because it reminded a torture instrument in which the prisoner was forced to wear an iron mask. And also, it was a reference to the harsh British Prime Minister, Margareth Tatcher, back in the 70’s. The theme of the songs, as a consequence, was the History of England. Result: 21 álbuns and a solid success that survived to our days.
