Filho de um apresentador de vaudeville (Danny), enfrentando seriíssimos problemas de saúde, ele nos legou 70 títulos (segundo o imdb) de pura arte. Mas também nos brindou com a arte e a alegria do seu filho Gary; em 1965 formou um grupo com os Playboys que durou até 1969, mas teve tempo de emplacar alguns sucessos como Everybody Loves a Clown, She’s Just My Style, Greengrass e a música que postamos aqui, This Diamond Ring. O conjunto apareceu num dos melhores gags do cinema em A Família Fuleira e em diversos especiais da TV, como o Shindig!
