FESTIVAL DE ROCK - THE DEL-VIKINGS

Vamos falar sério: este foi um 78 rpm meu que quase furou. Whispering Bells é um daqueles legítimos rocks que começa com uma explosiva introdução de saxofone, seguida por um arranjo espetacular com sinos e tudo mais. E o que mais surpreende são as raízes do grupo, Na Força Aérea dos Estados Unidos. O ano, um glorioso 1955; o nome, inspirado num time de basquete, os Vikings; o primeiro hit, Come Go With Me, explodiria dois anos depois, no não-menos glorioso 1957, quando apareceram no filme The Big Beat. Os Del-Vikings jamais serão esquecidos, pelo menois enquanto fizerem filmes sobre os anos dourados. American Graffiti, Stand By Me e Joe Vs The Volcano são exemplos disto. Senhoras, Senhores e o resto, com vocês… The Del-Vikings!

 

Now that’s a 78 rpm I almost wore off. Whispering Bells is a bona fide saxophone rock and roll that comes blasting in the introduction, followed by a spectacular arrangement with bells. What are surprising are their roots, on the US Air Force. The year, a glorious 1955; the name, inspired on a basketball team, the Vikings; the first hit, Come Go With Me, would pop two years later, in no-less glorious 1957, when they appeared in The Big Beat. The Del-Vikings will never be forgotten, as long as there is a film about the golden days. American Graffiti, Stand By Me and Joe Vs The Volcano are among these.
