FESTIVAL DE ROCK - JOEY DEE AND THE STARLIGHTERS

Houve um tempo em que se dançava juntinho. Aí veio o twist. Roda e roda e sobe e desce. A gurizada tinha até um templo, o Peppermint Lounge. Fora algumas colunas partidas, era danado de gostoso. Afinal, nós já tínhamos o bambolê, certo? Ainda bem que o risonho Chubby Checker nos ensinou todo o um milhão de variações da dança (chicken, monkey, swim etc.). Ele até foi o professor de uma das nossas leitoras, Sra G, a jogar os braços pra esquerda enquanto as pernas iam pra direita. Tanto quanto falharam todas as tentativas de novas danças da época, o twist só duraria pouco mais de dois anos. Mas era tão fácil de dançar, que a turma ainda dança o twist no lugar do rock.

 

Once there was a time when couples danced together. Then came in the twist. Round and round and up and down. The in-crowd even had a temple, the Peppermint Lounge. Broken spines apart, it was lotsa fun. Well, we already had hula-hoops, right? Of course, smiling Chubby Checker taught us how to do the one million variations of the dance (chicken, monkey, swim etc.). He even taught one of our readers, Mrs G, how to cast her arms to the left while legs went to the right. As many good tries of the dance failed, the twist would shine only for a couple of years. But it was so easy to do, people still twists when should rock instead.
