FESTIVAL DE ROCK - THE MARCELS

Falou em Doo-Wop, o nome dos Marcels é o primeiro que vem à mente. Aquele bombbom-bbombbombom-bbombbom-dengdengdeng-dingdongding Blue Moon marcou toda uma geração de grupos baseados na voz poderosa do baixo. Cornelius Harp, Fred Johnson, Gene Bricker, Ron Mundy e Richard Knauss se reuniram em 1959 com uma idéia na cabeça: recontar (ou recantar) canções românticas com uma harmonia facilmente reconhecível pelo público mais jovem. Assim, sucederam-se Summertime, You Are My Sunshine, Heartaches, My Melancholy Baby, That Old Black Magic e One Last Kiss. Até hoje os remanescentes se apresentam em ocasiões especiais.

 

You say Doo-Wop, and the name Marcels is the first to be remembered. That long bombbom-bbombbombom-bbombbom-dengdengdeng-dingdongding Blue Moon branded a whole generation of groups based on the powerful voice of a bass man. Cornelius Harp, Fred Johnson, Gene Bricker, Ron Mundy and Richard Knauss joined in 1959 with a grand idea: retell (or re-sing) romantic standards with a harmony easily recognizable by the youngest. So, they sang Summertime, You Are My Sunshine, Heartaches, My Melancholy Baby, That Old Black Magic and One Last Kiss. Till today the old Marcels appear in special occasions.
