Daqui a cem anos - In 100 years

Há três canais que regulamente mostram interessantes pesquisas sobre o futuro, sempre comparando com o passado, em busca da reação do ser humano enfrentando mudanças lentas ou súbitas. São o NatGeo, o Discovery e o History. Enquanto escrevo, uma série chamada 2111 está rolando, com depoimentos de diversos cientistas.


Three channels regularly offer interesting research on future, Always matching with the past, searching the reactions of human beings facing changes, slow or subtle. Those are the NatGeo, the Discovery and History Channel. As I write, a series named 2111 is being shown, highlighting the statements of many scientists.

É claro que a possibilidade de um Apocalipse de verdade não pode ser deixado de lado, especialmente quando se fala de um vírus que se espalhe pelo ar, seja ele alguma mutação, ou produto de uma mente doentia enfurnada num laboratório.

Of course, the possibility of a real Apocalypse can’t be forgotten, especially when we are talking about a virus spreading through the air, be it a natural mutation, or the product of a sick mind stranded in a lab.

Uma coisa é certa: a Humanidade vai crescer numa proporção jamais vista, a menos que exista mesmo uma Ordem Superior que regula a sobrevivência das espécies. Neste caso, haverá algum elemento regulador, como a redução de fertilidade. Qualquer tentativa de obter isto por lei será considerada antissocial e um acinte aos desígnios de Deus (“Crescei e multiplicai-vos”).

One thing is certain: Humanity will grow in a giant proportion, unless there is really a Higher Order minding the survival of species. Then there will be some natural input, as the reduction of fertility. Any human attempt to achieve this goal by law will be considered antisocial and an offense to the divine commandment (“Grow and multiply”).

Os países como conhecemos desmoronarão economicamente, mesmo depois de ajustes dolorosos para a população. O dinheiro deixará de ser usado para dar valor às coisas, pois flutuará sem controle. Enquanto houver alguma ordem econômica, os saques colocarão uma pá de cal na economia. O exército e as forças policiais também comem, também têm família na mesma situação do resto do mundo faminto.

Countries as we know will rot economically even after painful adjustments for the population. Money will lose its power to value things, floating without control. As long as there is an economic order left, pillages will bury economy. The Army and the Police also eat; they have families in the same situation of the hungry world.

Então, veremos que as cidades voltarão no tempo às cidades-estados, como na Grécia, com funcionamento precário, mas que permita a sobrevivência do seu povo. Nada de megalópoles, que cairão primeiro no Inferno da desordem, mas cidades pequenas próximas de rios e de terras férteis. Terão muros, ou algum sistema de defesa que ainda não conhecemos. Durante algumas décadas, elas estarão sob o comando de ditadores. A população terá um controle nesta fase, queiram ou não os religiosos e sociólogos.

Then, we’ll witness cities back in time to the cities-states, as in Greece, living poorly, but allowing survival of the citizens. No more megalopolis, to be soon thrown down the Hell of disorder, but small towns next to rivers and fertile lands. Big walls will be built, or some new defense system unknown by our Science. During some decades, they’ll be under the command of dictators. Population growth will be under control in this phase, against any opposition of religious men or sociologists.

A comida e a energia virão de fazendas verticais, cujo tamanho dependerá do número de bocas ansiosas. Os animais e vegetais crescerão artificialmente; a energia consumida pelo complexo e pelo resto da cidade virá do sol, do vento ou de alguma nova fonte.

The food and energy will be provided by vertical farms, whose size will depend on the number of open mouths. Animals and plants will be grown artificially; the energy consumed by the complex and the rest of the town will come from the sun, the wind or some new source.

As rivalidades entre cidades vizinhas se acirrará ao ponto de termos de volta Atenas versus Esparta.

Rivalry between twin cities shall grow to the point we’ll watch the rerun of Athens versus Sparta.
